strengthening the position of workers in the production chain

HEMA published its 2023 sustainability report. In it, HEMA reports on its activities, results and ambitions with regard to sustainability. An important step taken by HEMA this year was an expansion of the approach around strengthening the position of employees in the production chain. To this end, HEMA introduced a living wage action plan and a two-way code of conduct.

HEMA is aware of the impact it has with its products and operations. An important part of HEMA's direction is to develop products that are more beautiful, practical, better and last longer. This is possible because HEMA designs and manufactures almost all of its products itself. Customers appreciate the sustainable quality that HEMA offers at an attractive price. Good-quality products last longer, which is good for customers' wallets and the environment.

living wage
In 2023, HEMA drew up an action plan towards a living wage for employees in the production chain. Together with suppliers, HEMA is working on this important step towards a fairer world. Coupled with other initiatives, such as trade union freedom and working conditions, this strengthens the position of employees.

two-way code of conduct
HEMA also introduced a two-way code of conduct. This code of conduct not only sets requirements for suppliers, but also describes HEMA's own responsibilities. This improves cooperation and contributes to future-proof relationships with suppliers.

The sustainability report naturally contains much more information, so HEMA cordially invites everyone to read further in the report. Further reading can be done via this link.
